This website has been created to provide information, advice and documentation for Line Managers working within organisations that do not have professional Human Resource support. It is also particularly appropriate for multi-site operations that operate independently when dealing with day to day personnel issues.

A strict interpretation of law may be required when dealing with Employment Tribunal or other claims by employees and users are therefore advised to seek legal opinion before responding to these.

An employee whom leaves without notice or who is sacked for Gross Misconduct is not entitled to accrued holiday pay. WRONG! Regardless of the reason for leaving all employees are entitled to be paid for outstanding holiday pay - at least to Statutory legislation.

Real life senarios

One of my employees is currently on maternity leave. She works full time, has account management responsibility for some of our clients, and is a team leader. She wants to return on part time basis, 3 days per week. Do we have to accommodate this as we don't feel that we can as clients expect someone to be there on 5 day week basis? find out here
